Project Title: Authorship Attribution on the Web

Project Description and Scope:

Authorship attribution (AA) is the task of determining the writer of an article. This proposed project aims to develop AA technologies for the content shared online. Specifically, the project aims to design state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms accompanied with analytical tools that empower analysts to perform AA on large-scale generated content. Besides making technical contributions, we aim to provide insights to empower analysts and platform providers to sieve out sock puppets from authentic authors. These new insights enabled by our developed AA techniques can also be used to design policies to foster a more cohesive online community.

Responsibilities

The candidate will also be responsible for one or more of the following aspects:

• Develop new data analytics and crawling capabilities
• Develop and maintain real-time data analytics services and systems
• Create prototype/application to showcase centre’s analytics capabilities
• Demonstrate applications at conferences
• Assist other researchers to collect and extract relevant data

Requirements

• Bachelor/Master Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or relevant disciplines
• Good knowledge of databases, data mining, machine learning, deep learning
• Proficient in at least one or more of these programming languages: Python, node.js, javascript, or other web development framework and languages.
• Self-motivated and able to carry out tasks independently
• Excellent team player and possess strong interpersonal skills
• Experience in the following technologies is an advantage:

  • Linux Environment (CentOS 6.x, Ubuntu 14.x), Bash Scripting
